Growing up on an island in the Niagara River upstream from Niagara Falls Captain Russell Beyer gained his first experience of wind and currents in a 12 foot one design and his passion for sailing has been growing ever since.  He is a student of sailing techniques, yacht design, construction and maintenance and has owned several boats, rebuilt a wooden yacht and sailed monohull and catamaran yachts up to 50 feet.  Most of his big boat sailing has

been in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and South Florida including the Bahamas.

While he enjoys a pickup race on the Bay to test his boat and skills he is a cruiser at heart.  As an ASA instructor he has delivered training on Lake Michigan and Biscayne Bay and strives to involve the participants in all aspects of sailing and seamanship as much as they desire.  When not on the water teaching, captaining charters or cruising, Russell is a licensed yacht broker in the state of Florida.
